Genealogical Records of The Choate Family & Related Families
Revised in 1966 and compiled by Orlean Choate.
This document is the basis of what this site "Our Legacy" is about. Updates are made, discoveries of the "unknown" are made, and additions to the record is always being updated and welcomed. Many in the family are in possession of the January 1966 revision and it is with gratitude that this most valuable document is also, once again, in this author's hands.

Links to resources:
Something to remember: For every source given, I have attempted to include a link to the actual record. Please utilize your mouse and discover the records I have included for you. These links will be for census images, headstone memorials, stories that can be found on the internet about an individual or even just pictures of family members. All the pictures I have used on this website will include credit to the individual or owner of the photograph. (ex. (a), (b), etc)
Importance of Documentation
In doing any genealogy research, it is important to be as accurate as possible. By obtaining a physical piece of evidence, by collaborating with others in the same family tree, by visiting cemeteries and talking with the record keepers of the cemeteries, we gain the knowledge needed
to be more accurate. Included on this site, is my attempt to provide census reports, documention
of historical accounts and first hand knowledge.

Reference #
Each individual will have a number in parenthesis behind their name. This should minimize any confusion as to which person is being documented.
Also... there will be capital alphabetical references notated. These refer to a source of documented evidence about an individual. On the Sources tab of this website, each resource will be clearly identified and easily accessible for viewing. (ex. (A), (B), etc)
Additionally, those descendants who have been given a memorial page on the findagrave website will have an * by their name which will link directly to the memorial page.

Family Search
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a wonderful source of information for genealogical research. In Salt Lake City, Utah is the Family History Library, the biggest in the world. There, anyone can go and do hands on research looking thru written books and microfische and searching the familysearch.org website. Temple ordinance dates are also available. If proxy work for an individual on this website has been done, there will be an * followed by a number. (see the John Choate family page for examples).
